Sponsor a Child.
Most of us are aware of the horrible fact, that there are millions of children who are deprived of the most basic human needs, like enough food, clean water, clothing, decent shelter, medical, education and in some cases even parents or family. In Third World countries, this reality is far, far greater, than in the West, in both numbers and severity. The Philippines is one of these Countries.
The problem is huge and will remain so till Jesus comes back to establish His Kingdom on this Earth.
We can however help even one child, by giving some food and clean water, a Doctor and medicine if sick , or a Dentist for a toothache. To share in this child's excitement of being able go to school, as they get their uniform, shoes and a school bag filled with paper, pens and other school supplies. And lastly, but the most important of all, is that he/ she and the family are hearing about a Saviour who loves them.
In the Philippines, we work in a community, as we getter far better results when we involve both the children and their families. Our name "Changing Lives Through Jesus" spells out our mission. We are most interested in effecting permanent eternal change and not only food and medicine, important as that may be be in the moment.
To date we have seen an average of about two adults conversions for every child sponsored.
We believe the needs are spiritual, social, mental and physical. We help the children enroll into school, teach both the children and adults about the Gospel. Look for ways to help the families in practical needs, like food, clean water and shelter, but with the philosophy that you don t just bring a man a fish every day, you also need to teach him how to fish. This is done in a in a community where we seek to establish a strong spiritual and social climate. Where possible, we work with an existing Church and Pastor, if their is no such Church we will endeavor to get one established. Our workers, are responsible for about 25 children, to distribute, monitor, keep records and generally ensure that the program is running properly as well as look out for the welfare of each child.
For orphans, we prefer a local foster parent plan to an institutional type orphanage program. We believe that children need a mum, a dad, and siblings, in a family, even if they are adopted ones.
Each child needs a sponsor, what we prefer, is persons who not only include the child in their budget, but who also take him or her into their heart. To help toward this, we will provide you with photos and reports (usually via email). As the child learns to read and write, we will encourage and facilitate, your child writing to you and welcome your writing to them.
